This week we took Joshua over to Seattle to catch his flight to Atlanta. We left a week ago today to get here because we knew that over the weekend it was going to snow. And boy did it ever snow! We were thinking it would be a light dusting. But more on that in a bit!
Snoqualmie Pass was GORGEOUS and the sun was shining. We met up with our friends Rachel and Sally and had some coffee at Cutter's Point. Isaiah was a puddle of tears because they ran up to hug me and he didn't recognize them. Once he got some juice and we sat in front of the fire place he warmed up (literally and figuratively) and chattered away. We had a fun night with them- we had a delicious dinner and got to watch the sunset at Rachel's bungalow on the lake.
We all slept in the loft of the bungalow, but the staircase was kind of awkward for the baby gate so we had an extensive blockade set up with a loose baby gate, several plastic bins and a few storage boxes. He had fun throwing things down the stairs and sitting in a massage chair.
Saturday we spent the day napping, watching Star Trek, visiting, going for a walk in the very cold evening and getting some delicious treats at a bakery. Isaiah was delighted to get a cookie for the ride home. Fast forward- we had a lot of great times, but then we had to send Josh off to the airport. Bye, Daddy! We went to church, napped, woke up and saw the GIANT snowflakes and went back to bed.
The next day we had a significant amount of snow. I was concerned about being caught in Kent so I decided last minute to head down to Grandma's in Olympia. I threw all of our stuff in a suitcase and headed out. It snowed a LOT. I took a picture of the snow the night before the big storm (we were still snowed in) and then the next morning- look at this snow:
I couldn't believe my eyes! SO MUCH SNOW! Now all we do is talk about the weather. How many more inches of snow are we going to get? How bad is the ice out there? Can we get to the store in a few days? Are we going to have any flooding here in Olympia? Any trees falling down nearby? You get the picture.
Meanwhile, Isaiah has suddenly developed some extra theatrical and musical behaviors. He is very into playing the keyboard, watching musicals, singing, showing off his dance moves, throwing himself in front of the camera, etc.
We talk to his daddy a couple of times a day. We miss him!
Joshua is adjusting to his life in Atlanta. He is making his money stretch while he is there. He found out the first day he was going to have to buy a train pass to make it into the office so he tried to figure out the cheapest way to do that. $25 a week and, as far as I know, he can travel wherever the train goes for that price. He waits for the train and spends a lot of time riding the train. During all this waiting, he sends me lots of text messages which I appreciate.
Training seems to be going well! They had some technical difficulties the first few days but he was glad to be working. He has four roomates and they are very polite and easy to live with. I keep begging him to take pictures for me of Atlanta since I have never been there and I love experiencing this adventure and getting as much out of it as possible. It really does look beautiful!
Right now we just miss being together as a family and being apart from each other makes us realize how much we will miss being away from my parents and our church in Moses Lake. But, we are feeling nothing but excited for the big reveal of our new living location!
Sorry this is sooooo long- if you made it all the way through then you definitely deserve a prize! I'll catch everyone up in a week or so. I'm rumenating quite a bit on minimalist living so I want to post about that.
